The East Lancashire Railway has just unveiled its first event for 2024, ‘ Winter Diesel Day’, which promises an action-packed day for diesel locomotive enthusiasts on Saturday, February 10.
This event will showcase an impressive lineup of diesel locomotives from the railway’s home fleet. The stars of the show being:
- Class 24, D5054 “Phil Southern”
- Class 33, 33109 “Captain Bill Smith RNR”
- Class 37, 37109
- Class 40, 40012 “Aureol”
- Class 45, 45108
- Class 47, 47765
- Class 50, 50015 “Valiant”
- DMU (Bury / Ramsbottom Shuttles), including a DMU Drag featuring the Class 40
The event promises a bustling timetable, with trains travelling back and forth along the route between Heywood, Bury, and Rawtenstall. It’s an ideal opportunity for rail enthusiasts to witness these magnificent diesel locomotives.
Tickets for ‘Winter Diesel Day’ are available for purchase through the railway, starting at £16.50 for children and £25 for adults when booked online.
On-the-day bookings are also available, with prices set at £18.50 for children and £28.00 for adults. Families can take advantage of various ticket options, and there are exclusive discounts for local residents and members of the East Lancashire Railway Preservation Society, as well as working and retired railway employees.
