Great Western Railway (GWR) is offering money-saving tickets for families travelling with children up to fifteen years old.

The GWR Family ticket will cost less than individuals buying tickets, with example fares including:

• Exeter to Bath: £34, 24% less than the equivalent separate Advance Purchase fares if travelling with two children; 43% less if travelling with four children.
• Reading to Plymouth: from £71, 28% less than the equivalent Advance Purchase fares travelling with two children, or 46% less if travelling with four.
• London to Truro: from £99.50, saving 22% for those travelling with two children, and £72.50 or 42% if travelling with four kids.

With a Family ticket, two adults and up to four children can travel on a one rail ticket, saving on the costs of the equivalent four or six Advance purchase fares. Tickets are valid only for single journeys on booked trains.

To buy the ticket, the purchaser needs to enter the details of their party, two adults and the number of children, into GWR’s booking engine and select the Family ticket option from the list of available trains.

Under-fives travel free unless a seat is booked for them.

The operator is also offering savings on days out with two-for-one offers at attractions across the area that it serves, including Madame Tussauds, Legoland at Windsor and Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein attraction in Bath.

GWR also suggests some attractions that people can enjoy without paying a charge, including the South West Coast Path, which featured as the backdrop in TV shows Games of Thrones and Poldark.
