A (TPE) member of staff has taken part in Movember this year to raise money for the children of a colleague who died earlier this year.

Scott Jarvis, 56, from Droylsden in Manchester raised over £1,000 by growing his moustache as part of the Movember, movement in November. Scott’s money-raising moustache growing was to raise money for the family of his late colleague Dominic Johns, who was a Driver Manager based at and . Dominic was popularly known as Dom and sadly died last March.

Scott made his fundraising efforts across the TransPennine Express network, resulting in his colleagues donating towards Scott’s campaign and leaving words of encouragement for both Scott and Dominic’s family. Scott created a Just Giving page where friends and colleagues could donate, and is keeping his page open until next February so he can continue to support Dominic’s family into the new year and throughout January.

Scott said: “This year, I took part in Movember in honour of Dom who passed away earlier this year, leaving behind two young sons.

“I wanted to raise money to support and surprise his children so that they can have some fun, especially since its their first without him.”

“Dom was a great guy. As soon as you met him, he would make you feel like a friend. He lived life to the fullest and gave everything 100 per cent, whether it was work or pleasure.

“Dom was there for me for the four years we worked together, and I feel like this is the least I can do to thank him and support his family.”

Dom’s mother, Joan Potts, said: “I would like to thank Scott and everybody at TPE so much for their wonderful fundraising for my grandsons this Christmas.

“We miss Dominic dearly, and I’m sure he would be appreciative of everybody’s efforts – and very impressed by Scott’s moustache.”
