Network Rail has advised passengers to check before they travel when travelling through Kent as works take place around Ashford this weekend and over Christmas.
Works are taking place this weekend, 23-24 November and between 26-29 December to improve the railway between Canterbury West and Ashford International
During the works, Southeastern Highspeed and Eurostar services will not be stopping at Ashford and other mainline services may be subject to change. The works include upgrading points and crossing as well as upgrading drainage.
A variety of works are being carried out of the Christmas period and passengers should check their journeys before travelling at www.nationalrail.co.uk. A dedicated page is also available at nationalrail.co.uk/Christmas and on Twitter with the hashtag #XmasRailWorks
What Did the Officials Say?
Fiona Taylor, route director, Kent said:
“The work we are doing at Ashford this weekend and over Christmas will mean a better, more reliable railway for passengers when complete.
“The railway is quieter at Christmas which is why we do our major work then, but we appreciate it’s still a busy time for people visiting family and friends so please check before you travel.”
