A railway in Tonbridge Wells is welcoming a new locomotive… the Spa Valley Railway is going to be welcoming ‘Ring Haw’ to their fleet, on a long term loan from the North Norfolk Railway.
The Hunslet (built in 1940) takes the Spa Valley steam fleet to 3, and will operate alongside No. 62 Ugly, and Austerity No. 72.
Ring Haw will be visiting the SVR until October 2017, and will also be in steam for the railways Summer Steam Festival, which takes place on the 1st and 2nd July 2017.
All three steam locomotives will be in steam, and will be joined by a variety of Traction Engines, Steam Rollers and Vintage Cars.
What does the General Manager at the Spa Valley Railway say?
Jonnie Wesson, who is the General Manager at Spa Valley Railway, said “It will be fantastic to see such an array of steam action over the line this summer, during our 20th anniversary year. Alongside Ring Haw during 2017 we will have our own ‘Ugly’ and No.72 in action, which will demonstrate the unique contrast between different types of industrial steam locomotives, often unseen in favour of glamourous classes of engines. It is these very industrials which contribute so greatly to keeping steam on preserved railways alive.”
Matt Dives, who is Steaming Assistant at the Spa Valley said “The visit of Ring Haw will assist our locomotive department greatly throughout the summer months.”
