Whittlesford Parkway station in Cambridgeshire to see upgrade work carried out

Improvement work at is set to get underway in early March and will see the station building upgraded alongside the restoration of its canopy

The £500,000 project will see Whittlesford Parkway station undergo improvement work and will see its canopy stripped back to its timbers and fully refurbished alongside the station building being upgraded. Work is set to begin on Monday the 6th of March and is expected to complete for summer.

During the period of work, a temporary ticket office will be in operation and train services will run as usual.

Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia Asset Management Director, said: “We are very proud of our stations, and we are always looking to improve them where possible. This work will help enhance the appearance of Whittlesford Parkway and make it a more pleasant and welcoming space.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience while this work is carried out.”

Whilst the work is underway, some car parking spaces in the car park near platform 2 will be out of action however, there is plenty of parking near platform 1.

Cycle parking will be unaffected whilst the work is carried out.

2022 Saw Greater Anglia invest more than £1 million in station improvements over its network including:

  • The installation of nine new waiting shelters
  • The refurbishment of toilet facilities at eight stations
  • Provision for 450 platform benches at 76 stations throughout , , Essex, and Hertfordshire.
