RMT announce further Network Rail strike action over Christmas period

The Union has put a new offer from to its members, but comes with a recommendation to reject.

The referendum will close on Monday 12th December at noon.

All strike action already announce on December 13th, 14th, 16th and 17th will go ahead as planned and further strike action has been planned and members have been instructed not to book on for work between 18:00 on December 24th until 05:59am on the 27th December. This coincides with engineering work.

All scheduled overtime bans have been cancelled.

No improved offer has been sent by the , who are awaiting mandate from the government. As a result, all TOC strike action will go ahead, and a meeting is being held today between the RDG / RMT.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said that it was unfortunate that that union had been compelled to take this action due to the continuing intransigence of the employers. “We remain available for talks in order to resolve these issues but we will not bow to pressure from the employers and the government to the detriment of our members,” he said.
