The Mid Suffolk Light Railway has announced that a new coaling stage has been installed.
In early January work started to remove the boards sitting on top of the existing coaling stage and its supporting frame.
This turned out to be a good idea, as the cross members were rotten and required replacement.
New timbers were ordered, the railway also had a discussion about resiting the coaling stage, but the work proceeded to produced the coaling stage with a slightly smaller footprint.
Following a clearance test with two of our locos on 27th February, the stage was pronounced fully operational and ready for the first firing of the year.
