Because of building work next to Haymarket station, there will be limited access to the station for fans travelling to and from BT Murrayfield Stadium for the match next Saturday, 19th November, between and Argentina, “The Pumas”, with a 3.15pm kick off.

As a result, is advising anyone planning to attend the match to plan their journeys in advance, particularly for their return journeys, as services are expected to be busy. Throughout the afternoon, ScotRail will be running additional services between Waverley and Queen Street via Falkirk High, and where possible, adding extra carriages on key services to and from Edinburgh.

After the match, the building work that has caused the restricted access to Haymarket and reduced the station’s capacity by half will mean that ScotRail will be unable to implement its normal queuing system. Also, there will be access to the station from the ramp located at the rear of the station. Everyone travelling from Haymarket will need to use the station’s main entrance, and expect longer waiting times for the train home.

Because of Haymarket’s limited space, customers are advised to consider travelling straight to Edinburgh Waverley after the end of the match to reduce their need to queue, or to postpone their travel home until later in the evening.

A fast and frequent tram service operates between the stadium’s entrance and St. Andrew Square tram stop, which is a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley. Lothian Bus services numbers 1, 3, 12, 22, 25, 26, 30, 31 and 33 also run between the stadium and Edinburgh City Centre.

Further information and travel advice for matchday is available on the ScotRail website at www.scotrail.co.uk/sport.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “We’ll be doing everything we can to help fans travel to Murrayfield to see Scotland sign off their autumn international series against Argentina on Saturday.

“To help everyone’s journey run smoothly, we’re adding more services between Edinburgh and Glasgow, and where possible, more seats on key trains to and from Edinburgh. However, customers should plan ahead as services are expected to be busy.

“We’d also encourage customers to travel straight to Edinburgh Waverley to catch their train home after the game due to the limited access and capacity at Haymarket station, or postpone their journey until later in the evening.”
