From tomorrow, Tuesday, 8th November, London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is releasing the sale of tickets for travel during this year’s Christmas and New Year period.
The tickets will be available for dates between Wednesday 21 December 2022 and Friday 6 January 2023 covering LNER services for the full East Coast route. To help secure the best-value fares, customers can sign-up for ticket alert notifications via LNER’s website and App. That will alert them when London North Eastern Railway releases tickets for sale.
As usual, there will be no LNER services on Christmas or Boxing Day, services on New Year’s Eve will finish earlier than normal.
Customers will receive the best value when they book their tickets direct with London North Eastern Railway. There is no booking, they can receive live journey alerts, and select a preferred seat. Also, if they sign-up for the railway’s loyalty programme “LNER Perks “ they will receive £5 as well as a further 2 per cent on all their future purchases.
From 30th November until 4th January 2023, tasty treats and feasts will be available in both Standard and First Class. First Class customers can choose from a range of complimentary seasonal menu options, from chicken and stuffing sandwiches, stollen muffins, and hog roast sausage rolls to apple and cinnamon tea, cranberry juice, and more. Also being offered in First Class will be North Yorkshire-based Masons Gin and Baileys Irish Cream.
In Standard Class, customers can make of use the ‘Let’s Eat at Your Seat’ service to have items delivered to their seats from the onboard Café Bar. Among the items on offer will be seasonal sandwiches and snacks, including Lottie Shaw’s mince pies, Meatless Farm vegan sausage rolls, Cadbury’s Snowballs, and Negroni Spritz.
As this Christmas will be the first for several years with no travel restrictions, customers should plan ahead as cross-border services between Scotland and England are expected to be very busy. Also, engineering works are scheduled to affect services through York between 27th December and 1st January 2023. Details of the changes to services during this period are available on the LNER website.
If a customer needs to change their journey and they have booked their ticket directly with the railway’s ‘Book with confidence’ facility allows them to change their booking or request an e-Voucher to do so free of charge on tickets for travel until 30 November 2022.
David Horne, Managing Director at LNER, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming people onboard our services this Christmas and New Year period. This Christmas we have thousands of our great value fares available and customers will also be able to enjoy a range of exciting and fresh festive food and drink options onboard. As always, we recommend customers book direct on the LNER website or app and make a free-of-charge seat reservation for maximum comfort when travelling with us.”
