Hull Trains has announced that the media from across the region have been given the chance to have the first glimpse at the new trains for Hull that are coming later this year.

From December 2019 onwards, passengers will have more seating capacity, enhanced interiors and faster speeds, which is all part of a major £60million investment.

will be replacing its current fleet of 180s with a set of five hi-tech Hitachi trains.

Hitachi is making great progress on the trains, which have been built in Japan and prepared for service in Italy before they come to the UK ready for staff training.

The regional media, including BBC Look North, BBC Radio Humberside, Hull Daily Mail, KCFM and ITV Calendar, all had the opportunity to understand the investment that Hull Trains and its parent company, FirstGroup, is making to benefit the Hull.

  1. In the mean time. Hull Trains are hiring the Class 43s to help improve the service on Hull Trains and to boost more capacity before the Class 802s do eventually enter passenger service in December this year. With the remaining Class 180s to be cascaded to Grand Central. Or to another train operator that might inherit the Class 180s from Hull Trains to help boost more capacity and available seats.
