Good progress is being made in the construction of the cylinders for new build Standard Class 6 No.72010 Hengist.

Current work has been producing a full-size wooden pattern for the outside cylinders.

Due to the size of lathe, the whole pattern is being made in parts which will later be joined together to form the pattern.

As can be seen in the picture, the second half of the main motion cylinder pattern has been completed.

The full-size pattern is now at the halfway mark, as both halves of the valve cylinder will now be turned on the lathe. The pattern is being made by Tony Dance.

This is brilliant news for The ‘Clan’ Project. If you would like to support the Project in building the 11th British Railways Standard Class 6 or to find out more information about this lost class, please visit The ‘Clan’ Projects’ website here.
