To improve measures to make stations and services across the TransPennine Express (TPE) network safe for rail users, the company’s cleaning teams have ramped up their efforts.
In order to make trains a safe form of travel for users throughout autumn and winter, TransPennine Express has invested in cleaning equipment across the network. The new equipment will enable deep cleaning to become a priority in stations and on services across the TransPennine Express network. The aim is that the extensive cleaning programme will provide customers with a clean environment both in stations and onboard TransPennine Express trains.
During the past three years, TransPennine Express has employed 160 sanitation busters. They have worked tirelessly to sanitise key touchpoints in stations and on board the over 100 carriages that operate across the network to ensure the safety of key workers and customers,
The company’s investment in cleaning equipment includes the purchase of pressure washers, state-of-the-art vacuum cleaners, mechanical sweepers, and new fog pods. These will all play their part in keeping customers visiting TransPennine Express-managed stations safe.
Although face coverings are no longer mandatory in England and Scotland, TransPennine Express encourages customers to wear them onboard and in crowded spaces where possible as a courtesy to others.
