East Lancashire Railway to host a bumper line up of family events this October half term

East Railway has organised a fabulous lineup of Autumn events that will provide fun for all the family this October half term. This weekend (Saturday 24th September) saw the brilliant Northern Brickworks LEGO Club event return and there are plenty of other exciting events planned  for October including:

A Day Out with Thomas on Saturday the 1st & Sunday the 2nd of October:

This October will see everybody’s favourite little blue engine ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ return to the once again, following sell-out events earlier this year. Guest will be able to enjoy a journey behind Thomas on a trip which explores the routes of the heritage railway between and .

The special day will also see live entertainment at the which is located just across the road from the station and will see activities such as sing-a-longs with Sodor’s cheeky station sweepers Rusty & Dusty, balloon modelling, magician, fun fair rides and face painting.

Wizards Academy on Sunday the 9th of October:

Returning once again following a sell-out event earlier this year, The Wizarding Adventure offers an interactive day out for want-to-be witches and wizards. The adventurous day will see magicians of all abilities come together to enjoy wand waving, working on broomstick skills and even the chance to defeat evil forces. The event will also include other wizard-themed activities as well as photo opportunities and a 2-hour train trip with some of Lancashire’s best enchanters.

Halloween Ghost Trains on Thursday 27th, Friday 28th, & Saturday 29th of October:

Returning this year, the Halloween Ghost Train is ready to set a Halloween scene at the heritage railway. Families brave enough to get on board the haunted heritage steam train are going to be making some freaky fabulous new friends including Count Brian the Vampire, Veronica the Witch, Bob the Zombie and many more creepy critters who need help to break a dreadful curse. Guests will be able to show off their best fancy dress as well as enjoy a singalong of some spooky songs with the tuneful terrors.

Bury Transport Museum which is just across the road will also be joining in with the frightful fun with a Carn-Evil which will see a haunted cottage and an array of rides such as the Dragon Coaster, Spooky Sizzler Twist amongst many other family-friendly rides. Carn-Evil tickets are able to be added separately when checking out.
