First arriving at Ffestiniog Railway in 1962 the trolley has seen several stages of restoration carried out.
The Wickham Trolley has undergone a green transformation in this latest stage of work which has seen the vehicle converted to run on batteries in place of petrol as it was originally manufactured
The batteries are able to recharge using electricity generated from large solar panels which are on top of the new carriage shed.
The Wickham Trolley has seen plenty of activity since arriving at the Ffestiniog Railway in 1962 being used by track gangs for several years before being stored at Glan y Pwll in the early 1970s.
In the late 1990s, the trolley saw restoration carried out by volunteers over a number of years and in differing locations before returning to the Ffestiniog Railway in 2010.
The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway is a narrow gauge heritage railway set amongst the stunning scenery of Gwynned in Wales and is an extremely popular tourist attraction. The railway is currently operating its summer timetable and will change over to its Autumn timetable from the 2nd of September.
