Late October saw the North Yorkshire Moors Railway hold their final gala of the 2016 season. The theme was the NELPG’s 50th Anniversary.
The NELPG own and run some of the locos on the NYMR and were celebrating by having all available steam locomotives in steam throughout the weekend.
Locomotives featured at the NELPG 50th Anniversary Gala
We visited on the Sunday of the event, locos featured in the video are:
– 0-6-0T Class J72 No. 69023 ‘Joem’
– 0-8-0 Class Q6 No. 63395
– 4-6-0 Class B1 No. 61264
– 2-6-0 Standard 4 No. 76084 (Visiting from the North Norfolk Railway)
We visited all stations which were accessible by road which are Pickering (the road crossing just outside the station), Levisham (Crossing and on the station), Goathland (Station), Grosmont (MPD Viewing Point, Station and Road Crossing) and Whitby (evening shots on the station).
Highlights include the teak set of carriages departing Levisham at 4 minutes. Steaming through the moors we see 62005 heading down towards Goathland, and 61264 heading away from Goathland, at around 7 minutes into the video. Plus the Pullman carriages arriving at Goathland around 9 minutes in.
