Southern Locomotives Ltd has released a short update on the overhaul work currently being completed on 34028 Eddystone.
Last Friday saw the task of re-attaching the locomotive’s pony truck back to the frames. The pony truck had previously been removed to allow the work to be completed on the centring mechanism.
The centring mechanism is in the rear of the pony truck. Found here are springs that allow the wheels to move off centre when the locomotive is going around curves.
Eddystone had to be moved back a touch to allow the pony truck to pass under the rear frames. All completed successfully.
With the frames drawn back, a forklift was used to lift the truck into place.
Whilst all this was taking place, the Swanage Railway‘s Autumn Steam Gala was taking place, with 34072 257 Squadron returning to service.

Hi Tony,
There has been! 86415 was/is named Rotary International. There are/were probably others too.
Tom
Why as Rotary International never had a train named after all the work we do both at home and abroad
