After a two-year absence, the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway will be hosting its Summer Steam event. The celebration will take place on the 16th and 17th of July.
As part of the celebration, a special timetable will be featured across the weekend. The event will see the resident locomotive along with two visiting steam locomotives running from 10 am.
‘The Bug’ will be visiting from the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, which is the first time it has returned to Cleethorpes since 2008. The second locomotive will be ‘Dougal’ from the Evesham Vale Light Railway on its first visit away from its home line.
At Lakeside Station, there will be plenty to do with miniature traction engines and steam vehicles alongside attractions such as a drive it yourself tram for under 10s and crazy golf (attractions are subject to availability). The Signal Box Inn will also be open with a range of ales available.
Director Peter Bryant commented: “We are delighted to reintroduce this popular event which will give even more of our visitors the chance of experiencing for themselves the magic of steam travel. There will be great photo opportunities for families and enthusiasts alike as the drivers put the locomotives through their paces. We are grateful to our friends at Evesham Vale and Romney who have been kind enough to bring their superb locomotives to run on Cleethorpes metals.
All services are bound to be very popular and we encourage those visiting the railway to take advantage of our special day rover tickets which will be ideal for those wishing to have a ride behind the different locomotives.”
