World famous locomotive Flying Scotsman will be back in steam on the mainline and will be passing through Manchester and Warrington Bank Quay on Friday 21st September 2018.
The A3 locomotive is on a light engine movement. 60103 is moving from the East Lancashire Railway, in Bury, to the Crewe Heritage Centre, in Crewe.
The movement on the national network is to allow the steam locomotive to be in Crewe ready for its role as the locomotive for an upcoming railtour from Crewe to Holyhead.
The locomotive will depart the East Lancashire Railway at 15:40 and will make its first stop at Manchester Victoria at approximately 16:19 for a ten-minute break, before heading off to Newton-le-Willows (at 16:30) and the West Coast Mainline.
From Newton-le-Willows, the Flying Scotsman will take the West Coast Mainline to Crewe via Warrington Bank Quay.
Once at Crewe, the famous locomotive will make the short hop to the Crewe Heritage Centre, arriving at 19:51, where it will be prepared for the tour the following day.
