Sir Haydn arrives at Abergynolwyn

In this weeks Throwback Thursdays episode we see Sir Haydn arrive at Abergynolwyn in 2012. This video was recorded before the RailAdvent website was launched.

Sir Haydn bowed out of service in 2012 firstly leaving the Talyllyn for the Corris Railway, and later that year it steamed at the Talyllyn for the last time before a heavy overhaul began.

No. 3 Sir Haydn was built by Hughes of Loughborough in 1878 for the Corris Railway. In 1951 Preservation Society purchased the locomotive for just £25! The loco has worked on the railway ever since, and also features as Sir Handel from the Skarloey Railway on Duncan Days.

The loco is now at the Vale of Rheidol Railway Workshops in Aberystwyth where work continues on the locomotive to bring it back to working order.

Donations

You can help get the locomotive back into steam, more information can be found at the Talyllyn website, here.

You can also follow the progress of the restoration on Sir Haydn’s Facebook page
