Napier T9-29, affectionately known as the ‘Baby Deltic’ has been moved outside at Barrow Hill Roundhouse as preparations for the museum’s Beer Festival continues.
No progress has been made since the last update (see work taking place by clicking here) as the locomotive has been moved outside for a few weeks.
However, this movement did provide a good opportunity for a few photos to be taken of the locomotive.
Work is set to resume in late-May and this will focus on the end nearest to the camera in the photo above being fussed, with the buffer cowls, skirts on, nose end doors finished etc.
The project has shared a good photo though of the new fabricated and installed tanks complete, with the bosses fitted for the dummy fuel / water gauges and fuel pickup.

It will be great to see a `Baby Deltic’ running again – memories of Stevenage old station from the foot bridge with pals Dave Percival and the late great Mickey Harmer in the late ’50s! When at school at Alleynes. Malcolm D.
