Steam locomotive to pass through Cumbria this Saturday

Steam locomotive 34046 Braunton will haul ‘The Lakelander’ between Preston and Carlisle this Saturday 9th April 2022.

Departing Rugby behind an electric locomotive at 05:50, the tour will pass through Coventry (06:06), Hampden-in-Arden (06:16), Birmingham International (06:18), Aston (06:39), Tame Bridge Parkway (06:50), Bescot Stadium (06:56), Wolverhampton (07:08), Penkridge (07:28), Stafford (07:35), Crewe (08:18), Acton Bridge (08:35), (08:43), (08:57), Leyland (09:14) and Preston at 09:19, where 34046 Braunton takes over.

From Preston, the locomotive will pass through (10:22), Oxenholme Lake District (10:43), Penrith North Lakes (12:09) and Carlisle at 12:31.

After time in Carlisle, 34046 Braunton will depart at 15:30 and will then pass through Dalston (15:41), Maryport (16:14), Workington (16:21), Parton (16:34), Whitehaven (16:38), St Bees (16:48), Sellafield (17:03), (17:13), Millom (17:30), Barrow-in-Furness (18:25), Ulverston (18:42), Grange-over-Sands (18:55), Arnside (19:00) and at 19:14, where the steam locomotive is replaced by an electric locomotive.

From here, the electric locomotive will take passengers back to Rugby via Lancaster (20:07), Preston (20:30), Wigan North Western (20:52), Warrington Bank Quay (21:07), Crewe (21:37), Stafford (22:05), Wolverhampton (22:30), Tame Bridge Parkway (22:44), Birmingham International (23:06), Coventry (23:26) and Rugby at 23:45.
