The third stage of the container terminal at Berth 7, DP World Gateway has now been completed by Pentalver Transport Ltd

Pentalver Transport Ltd are a division of Genesee & Wyoming Inc (G&W) and have announced the completion of the terminal at the UK’s largest automated and fastest expanding deep-sea container port.

Extensive progress on the project has been made despite the many challenges provided by the pandemic. Phase 3 has seen large scale expansion work carried out on time and has increased the operation from 9 acres to 14 acres providing an overall on-site capacity of 7,400 TEU, creating vital extra storage for customers.

Phase 3 has allowed an increase in both maintenance and repair and also reefer operations. The terminal now operates right around the clock providing access for return and collection of empty and laden containers to supply vital haulier links in order to keep the nation on the move.

Chris Lawrenson, G&W Managing Director of UK Terminal Services, said: “With changing customer demand and Covid-impacted inventory, the UK logistics industry has seen huge pressure on container terminal infrastructure over the course of 2021,”

“Our new 24-hour, expanded facility allows us to add over 40% capacity to one of the UK’s critical mainline Port operations and enhance our crucial support to the UK logistics industry.”

Ernst Schulze, UK Chief Executive of DP World said: “I am delighted that Pentalver have completed their Phase 3 expansion at Berth 7. At London Gateway, we have the space, infrastructure and vision to support customers as they grow. Our partnership approach, logistics expertise, digital solutions and inter-modal connectivity, particularly rail, help us to solve logistical challenges and give our customers more control over their supply chains.”
