For the first time since arriving in Aberystwyth, Garratt NGG13 No. 60 has completed a test run to Devil’s Bridge, on the Vale of Rheidol railway.
The run to Devil’s Bridge was part of testing at the narrow-gauge railway, which runs for 11+3ā4 miles whilst visiting 9 stations and halts.
No. 60 arrived via a low-loader back in July 2017 after an 800-mile journey from Switzerland.
The locomotive may be used to haul services to Devils Bridge, though this is yet to be confirmed or advertised.
More updates are to be announced soon, though drone footage from Dylan Jenkins has been shared showing the engine on test.
Jinks80 on YouTube has also shared footage of the Garratt undergoing a loaded test run!

Definitely a good idea to introduce a bit of variety there
Why not ??? These locos are the only ones used on the Ffestiniog railway’s sister line, the Welsh Highland Railway, aren’t they ??? And they work brilliantly there !!!
