Update on work progressing on steam locomotive 82045

The 82045 Steam Locomotive Trust has released a short update on the construction work taking place on Riddles 3MT 82045.

The locomotive is being constructed at Bridgnorth Works on the Severn Valley Railway.

Plans have been made to move the locomotive’s pony trucks from outdoor storage to the loco yard and the erecting shop ready for installation under 82045.

Other arrangements can then be made to fit the pony trucks in place with the help of the wheel drop.

Work has continued on installing the grease lubrication pipework to the hornguides of the coupled wheels.

The boiler water level gauge frames have continued to be machined.

Recent work on the firebox has including riveting into place the pads on the crown for the safety valves and manifold as well as shaping the doubling plates for the four mud holes on the firebox crowns.

Painting is taking place on parts of the loco that have suffered in the weather.
