After keeping safe last year, Santa Claus is heading to Apedale Valley Light Railway (AVLR) this December.
You can meet him on the 2nd and 3rd weekends in December – 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th December.
Trains will run at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30 on each of the days.
Elves have been busy getting the experience ready for visitors. Passengers will board the train at Apedale Heritage Centre platform, enjoy the train ride to the other end, where you can enter Santa’s grotto before heading back to the start.
Most of your time will be outdoors, including on the open-sided train, so make sure you wrap up warm. Each party will get its own compartment and the experience will last between 45 minutes and an hour.
Tickets should be booked in advance as few, if any, tickets will be left on the day. Telephone lines are now open to make bookings and it is cheaper if you book before 1st December.

Apedale Country Park near Newcastle Under Lyme is the home of Apedale Valley Light Railway which is operated by the Moseley Railway Trust. The railway is only a few hundred meters long, but there are big plans to extend this in the future. A round trip of the current railway takes 15 minutes.
