The Railway Preservation Society of Ireland has announced that Ruston shunter ‘Carlow’ has returned to traffic over the weekend.
A late shunt on Saturday, 28th April, saw the shunter leave the confines of the carriage shed.
The locomotive has returned to traffic in Whitehead Yard after nearly 8 years in storage.
‘Carlow’ has had a full repaint back into its original Irish Sugar livery, with various mechanical repairs carried out.
What did they say?
The Diesel Locomotive Officer said:
I wish to thank the Carriage Officer for his assistance, and all those volunteers who have helped with the locomotive’s return to traffic.
