The 4253 Locomotive Company Ltd have posted an Early June 2021 update on the restoration of Great Western Railway (GWR) 4200 Class 2-8-0T No. 4253 and 5600 Class 0-6-2T No. 5668.
4253
The team have been braving the heat to continue with work on restoring the motion for 4253, with more rod bushes being machined.
New tank filler necks and lids are in the process of being produced for the tanks.
At Heritage Boiler Steam Services in Liverpool, the boiler is progressing well, with the outer lagging and cladding being fitted.
Sales Trailer
With COVID-19 restrictions easing, the company are hoping to start attending events again shortly to promote themselves and raise some funds towards restoring their engines.
A key part of being able to attend events is the sales trailer, which carries all the equipment and items needed.
As it’s not be used for several months, some work is required to get the trailer back into a serviceable condition. This so far has involved cutting down some metal sheets to replace a panel.
5668
The tanks for 5668 have seen more rivets fitted recently with more to follow in the next working parties.
