The LMS Patriot Project has released a small update on the work taking place on 5551 The Unknown Warrior.

The locomotive has now been moved into the main erecting shop at Vintage Trains‘ Tyseley Locomotive Works.

This will be the final build position for the locomotive and allows for reassembly to start in earnest.

The move has been delayed due to waiting for a slot in the workshop to become available.

5551’s cylinders are due to have new valve liners fitted, whilst the wheelsets have now been machined and are ready for pressing onto the axles.

Finally, the drilling of the locomotive’s frames for the spring hanger brackets can now be finished.
