Trains are suspended between Dumfries and Carlisle after a HGV came off the M74 and crashed onto the railway.
Emergency services are currently on scene and are working to get the railway cleared.
However, ScotRail says that trains are unlikely to run for the rest of the day.
Passengers can use tickets with Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express as well as Stagecoach on route 79.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
