Christmas plans for London trains revealed

has advised that public transport services in London will be running throughout the Christmas and New Year period except on Christmas Day and some parts of the network on Boxing Day.

The period covers Monday, 23rd December until Thursday, 2nd January 2025, but planned engineering works will affect the London Overground, the , and the (DLR), and full details are available online at tfl.gov.uk/christmas-travel.

On New Year’s Eve, a special timetable will apply with services running all night.

Visitors to the annual fireworks display are advised not to travel to the area in and around Victoria Embankment unless they have a ticket.

Some roads in certain parts of central London will be closed, some Santander Cycles docking stations will be unavailable, and some bridges will be closed to pedestrians.

Resources like TfL’s Journey Planner or the TfL Go app will help customers avoid closures caused by planned essential works across the transport network and navigate any last-minute service changes.

On the national rail network, engineering work is being carried out by Network Rail from 27th December to 1st January 2025.

Paddington mainline station will be closed from Friday, 27th to Sunday, 29th December.

From Saturday, 21st to Sunday, 29th December, there will be no Thameslink and services from St. Pancras International mainline station to .
