To give people a chance to enjoy some fresh of North Yorkshire‘s wonderful scenery after celebrating Christmas, the Wensleydale Railway is running Mince Pie Special trains with a choice of steam or diesel haulage.
The trains will run from Saturday, 28th to Monday, 30th December, between Leeming Bar and Leyburn.
On Saturday, 28th and Sunday, 29th December, services will be in the hands of visiting Black Five steam locomotive No. 45212.
On Monday, 30th December, class 47 diesel locomotive No. 47714 will operate a heritage diesel service, the first time it has operated a public service on the railway since it arrived in November.
Each day, there will be three return journeys between Leeming Bar and Leyburn, and visitors choose to start their journeys at Leeming Bar, Bedale, or Leyburn stations, as well as at Finghall station, which is a request stop.
During their journey, travellers will be served a complimentary individually wrapped mince pie and a hot drink of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, with the option of a gluten-free mince pie or a flapjack, whilst children can choose to have a Fruit Shoot or water.
Train services depart from Leeming Bar at 10:00, 12:20, and 14:40, and from Bedale depart ten minutes later.
Departures from Leyburn are at 11:20, 13:40, and 16:00.
Adult return tickets cost £25 and £5 for children aged 3-15, with advance booking being essential to avoid disappointment. The tickets are Rover tickets, so can be used for travel on any service from any station on the day.
