The Irish Steam Preservation Society, operators of the ½ mile 3ft gauge Stradbally Woodland Railway, the oldest heritage railway in Ireland, has been gifted a unique set of enamel badges featuring the society’s 1949 ex-Bord na Móna Andrew Barclay 0-4-0WT No.2 “Róisín”.

The volunteer led CLG which promotes awareness for Irish railway heritage by raising funds through organising railtours and various railway-themed events across Ireland, commissioned the badges which were handed over to the Stradbally Woodland Railway at a presentation ceremony during the Model Railway Society of Ireland Exhibition held in Clontarf, Dublin.

It is predicted that the sale of these new badges will generate a welcome income of €1,600 for the Stradbally Woodland Railway, which will bring a great financial boost to this little and much loved narrow gauge line.

The badges will be available to buy at the Stradbally Woodland Railway or any of its sales stands, and online at https://www.tailtetours.com/shop

“It is a delight to partner up with Stradbally to produce this badge. Their line is one of the most magical preserved railways out there, and their fleet is special in different ways And as for the badge, we’re very proud of it; it’s so true to life and we know it’s going to be a smash hit!
We look forward to calling in to see her in 2025″.
