ScotRail is warning passengers to check before travelling as a number of lines have been suspended due to the extreme weather caused by Storm Bert.
Speed restrictions have also been imposed on a number of routes, meaning journeys will take longer than normal.
The speed restrictions are in place on the West Highland Line, Highland Mainline, Stranraer Line, Glasgow South Western Line, Far North Line, West Coast Mainline and between Carstairs and the Border.
Both Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express are urging people not to travel north of Preston and Carlisle respectively.
Here are the latest updates that we are aware of:
Update 10:05 am – Milngavie trains suspended
A signalling fault between Hillfoot and Milngavie means trains cannot run to and from Milngavie.
Disruption is expected until 11 am. More information here.
Update 10 am – Number of lines suspended
Trains between Inverness and Elgin and between Aberdeen and Inverurie have been withdrawn.
Services between Glasgow Queen Street and Oban have also been withdrawn.
ScotRail services between Glasgow Central and Carlisle will terminate at Dumfries and trains between Inverness and Wick will not call at Thurso.
Lines have reopened between Bathgate and Airdrie after damage to overhead wires.
Responses
Surprised if Avanti West Coast will make any effort to run north of Preston .. That is their normal trick even when the line blockage is north of Carlisle .. would rather pile their customers into buses for a greater distance than actually required .
