Transport for Wales has released an update on the collision that took place earlier this week near Talerddig in Powys.
The Cambrian Line between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury will remain closed until at least the end of service on Friday 25th October.
The Rail Accident Investigation Branch is currently on site investigating the collision, in which one person died and 4 people were seriously injured. The RAIB has released their own update on the incident, which can be read here.
However, it is hoped that recovery will begin in the coming days to get the line reopened.
A rail replacement bus is in operation, but both passengers and drivers are advised that the A470 is closed between Caersws and Talerddig to assist with investigation/recovery work.
Trains between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth / Pwllheli and Shrewsbury and Birmingham International are running as planned.
Both TfW and Network Rail would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone in the local community for the overwhelming level of support they have provided during this difficult incident
