The has announced two visiting steam locomotives for its Annual Steam Gala.

Taking place between 26-29th September 2024, the gala will see 4079 Pendennis Castle visit alongside 2253 ‘Omaha’, the latter featuring in the 2019 Annual Steam Gala, which RailAdvent filmed and produced a DVD of.

The locomotives visit thanks to the Didcot Railway Centre and Peter Best / Dartmouth Steam Railway respectively.

The visiting locomotives join the home fleet of BR 9F No. 91234, Black 5s No. 44806 and 5428 ‘Eric Treacy’, 926 ‘Repton’, 80136, 65894, 29 and No. 8 ‘Lucie’.

“This is one of the most popular weekends at the NYMR for good reason; we showcase up to 10 magnificent locomotives in full steam, and people travel from all over to see our visiting and home fleet locos. Last year was special as we celebrated 50 years, now we’re looking ahead to the next 50 and can’t wait to host our next Annual Steam Gala in September.”

Paul ‘Piglet’ Middleton, Director of Mechanical Engineering at the NYMR
