The P2 Steam Locomotive Company has released a short update on the work being completed on the tender for 2007 Prince of Wales.
Recently, the tender frames for 2007 started the first leg of the journey to Darlington Locomotive Works.
The frames were sent from Ian Howitt’s Works in Wakefield for final gritblasting, preparation and painting in primer.
This was chosen to be done externally to save cost and mess at Darlington.
The frames are scheduled to arrive at Darlington Works by the end of the month, which will mark a major milestone in the construction of the P2.
Further fitting will be needed for pipework and conduits – the discussions surrounding ETCS are ongoing.
