The Plym Valley Railway has unveiled its resident Sentinel locomotive, No. 10077, in a striking InterCity livery.
The Sentinel has undergone a five-year overhaul and has now been unveiled in Intercity Swallow livery, which was completed by the volunteer team.
Whilst the locomotive never wore such a livery in its working life, it has created a lovely ‘what if' scenario.
The locomotive's overhaul has included radiator repairs, new cab-side windows, fixes to the exhaust and other welding.
It is expected that the locomotive will appear at the railway's Transport Weekend next week (29th and 30th June), with driver tasters and then the main train. The locomotive will be used on Brake Van Rides on the 7th July.
Running on the old Launceston Branch Line originally built by South Devon and Tavistock Railway, the Plym Valley Railway reopened as a preserved line in 2008, operating both steam and diesel trains along their mile and a half of track.
I think it looks quite fetching. Tempted to get some vinyl to give my black car the same livery.
InterCity 12.5?
I am quite sure the rivit counters will go mad, however it is your loco you own it and you paid for it so why not. As you say something really different and it looks good well done.
