(BTP) have released a CCTV image of a man that could help them in their investigation, after a second was stolen from a station on the Hayes line in South East London.

The latest theft took place on Monday 17th June 2024 at approximately 8pm at New Beckenham station, when someone phoned 999 to request the use of the defibrillator.

The code was given to open the case, and the defibrillator was removed.

Since then it has not been returned, which the BTP are regarding as part of a series of thefts that have already happened this year.

Neighbouring station Lower Sydenham had its defibrillator stolen on 7th February, and New Beckenham also lost its first defibrillator back on January 29th, bringing the number of thefts of such equipment between these two stations to three.

It is incredibly important to catch the thieves because they not only steal vital life-saving equipment from those who may potentially need it, but each defibrillator can also cost upwards of £1,000.

This means that these two stations have seen stolen property worth £3,000 go missing in the space of just 6 months.

If anyone recognises the man in the above image, they are requested to text British Transport Police on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 230 of 18 June. Or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
