The has announced that Class 37 No. 37418 will be visiting them for their upcoming diesel gala.

Taking place from the 14th to the 16th June, the diesel gala was going to give a chance for people to ride behind 55009 Alycidon. However, the locomotive has since been removed from the line up due to the failure of one of the power units.

Due to the failure, the Deltic Preservation Society decided that the locomotive would be unable to perform on the steep gradients.

However, thanks to Loram and Steven Beniston, 37418 will replace the Deltic at the gala, appearing in its striking red and white livery.

“Sometimes things beyond our control happen in the railway world and we have to be as agile as possible. We are so excited for the return of our much-loved annual Diesel Gala, and even more so now that Loram and Steven Beniston have graciously stepped in and hired out No. 37418 for the occasion.”

  • not a fan of the livery on 418 ( like it more now than when it was first introduced ) but much better power than the deltic ( personal option )

  • Couple of MeMeMe comments as to be expected, just go to the NYMR buy a ticket to help with the lines finances and try to ENJOY yourselves. God forbid.

  • Unfortunately, class 37’s are still to be seen on the network, but Deltics aren’t so I’d cancel if it was me. Loads of other people would too.

  • Huge disappointment losing 55009 for the gala, bound to knock hundreds off the attendance. Pity they couldn’t have attracted something more exotic than a class 37, im thinking a warship or western would have had considerable more appeal.
