Guest Rewards has introduced “Points & Cash”, a new feature to enhance its rewards program.

Amtrak is the national passenger railroad company of the United States. It operates inter-city rail service in 46 of the 48 contiguous U.S. states and three Canadian provinces.

In the past, Amtrak reservations had to be paid for either with points or cash, not a combination of the two.

Now, with “Points & Cash”, not only will “Guest Rewards” members be able to use both points and cash, but members will still earn both Amtrak Guest Rewards and Tier Qualifying Points (TQPs) on the cash portion of these ‘Points & Cash' bookings.

The “Points & Cash” feature is only available on Amtrak.com and the Amtrak app.

When booking travel, customers should first select the “Use Points” filter in the search results, then choose their preferred itinerary.

The payment screen will then present up to four “Points & Cash” options for each trip. You can find more details here.

Signing up for Amtrak Guest Rewards is free. Once signed up, members can immediately earn points toward Amtrak reward travel, upgrades, and more. Members earn two points per dollar spent on Amtrak travel, plus a 25% point bonus for Business Class travel and a 50% point bonus for Acela First Class travel.

Guest Rewards Members can earn additional point bonuses on travel, as well as upgrades, lounge access and companion coupons, depending on their Tier Status. This page explains the Amtrak Tier system.

Amtrak has also announced a major holiday sale for summer 2024.

With more redemption options and fewer points needed to redeem, it's easier than ever for our valued Amtrak Guest Rewards customers to use their points for reward travel.

Amtrak Guest Rewards members enjoy exclusive benefits and an enhanced travel experience, and with Points & Cash, they now have a new way to redeem points earlier and more often.
