As part of Southeastern‘s efforts to make it easier for customers to cycle to stations, it has opened a new secure cycle hub at Swanley station in Kent.

The hub is fitted with two-tier racks that can hold 56 bikes, electric charging points, a tyre pump, and a cycle repair stand.

It is the 29th cycle hub that Southeastern has opened across its network.

For added security, the hub has CCTV, a key fob entry system, and environmentally friendly motion-sensor LED lighting.

Use of the new cycle hub requires a subscription that can cost less than £4 a month, with various payment options available to suit customer requirements.

Swanley is part of a £687k package of improvements to the facilities for cyclists at eight Southeastern stations. A full list of cycle hubs available at Southeastern stations can be found by clicking here.

The cycle hub is the latest enhancement to Swanley station in recent years, including improvements to the waiting rooms and toilets and extending the station entrance.

Southeastern was supported by Kent County Council, Sevenoaks District Council, the South East Local Enterprise Partnership, HM Government and Network Rail.

Last year, Southeastern opened cycle hubs at Margate, Birchington-on-Sea, Folkestone Central, Dover Priory, Marden, Walmer, and Westgate-on-Sea.

Cycle hubs are not a recent provision, as in 2019 Southeastern opened one at Canterbury West.
