London North Western railway announced today that the one pound offer on the Marston Vale line has been extended until August due to high popularity.

The offer was originally launched when services between Bedford and Bletchley were resumed on February 19th this year.

Since then, thousands of passengers have taken advantage of the offer to explore the beautiful countryside the line traverses, and to explore the many nearby attractions which include:

• Pretty stone churches, model Victorian stations and glimpses of village life.
• Picturesque villages with traditional pubs, village greens and quiet canal towpaths, offering a peaceful step back in time. 
• The award-winning Ridgmont Heritage Centre, inside the restored Victorian station at Ridgmont.

Trips between any two stations on the line will cost just £1 (or 50p for children). This means a reduction of up to 90% on the standard fare.

The Marston Vale line timetable is as follows:

• Monday to Saturday: Hourly services in each direction
• Bank Holidays: Hourly services in each direction
• Sundays: No Services

The offer was originally intended to boost traffic on the line, following a period of service disruption that started in December 2022 when replacement buses started to replace trains after the company that serviced the class 230 rolling stock entered administration.

A partial train service was then restarted in November 2023 until full service resumption on February 19th 2024.

The £1 ticket has been really popular and it has been great to welcome many passengers from across the country to the Ridgmont Station heritage centre once again.
