Whilst the line was closed, some trains were diverted via alternative routes, and rail replacement bus services were also provided.

The Transpennine Route Upgrade is a multi-billion pound programme that will transform journeys across the North of England.

The line between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds, and York is being electrified and additional line capacity is being provided to enable the operation of faster and more frequent trains.

At Huddersfield station, two new platforms are being constructed, existing platforms are being extended with improved accessibility, and the track is being improved.

Between Huddersfield and Ravensthorpe, increased capacity is being provided by doubling the number of tracks from two to four.

Further information about the Transpennine Route Upgrade can be found by clicking here.

I’d like to thank passengers who travelled through Huddersfield over the last 10 days for their patience and understanding during these essential upgrades.

The work was completed successfully, safely and on time. This takes us a step closer to bringing about major benefits and improvements for passengers travelling along the Transpennine route.

Gareth Hope, Sponsor on the Transpennine Route Upgrade

The work completed over the past ten days forms a critical foundation of the upgrades Huddersfield station will see in the coming years, enabling benefits across the wider North as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade.

We’d like to thank our customers for their patience and cooperation whilst these major improvement works took place over the past ten days.

  1. Bradford also has an hourly train to Hull.
Bradford Forster Square has electric trains to Skipton, Ilkley and Leeds.
Shipley is on the line to Carlisle and the line to Lancaster and Morecambe.
So claims Bradford has no rail services is ridiculous
