Steam locomotive to visit Carlisle with luxury train

The luxury Northern Belle train will be passing through Lancashire, North Yorkshire and Cumbria this Saturday (30th March 2024).

Departing Victoria at 09:03, the train will start off by being hauled by a diesel locomotive. The train will pass through Bolton (09:19) and Preston (09:44) on its way to , where 34067 Tangmere will take over the train.

From Carnforth, 34067 Tangmere will pass through Lake District (11:00) and Penrith North Lakes at 11:41 before steaming into Carlisle at 12:21.

After passengers have had time to explore Carlisle, the train will depart at 14:24 with Tangmere taking to the Settle and Carlisle Line. The train will pass through (15:08), Ribblehead (16:01), (16:22), Clitheroe (17:32), Blackburn (18:03) and Preston at 18:24.

The remainder of the journey will be handled by diesel locomotives, passing through Bolton (19:30), Salford Central (20:03) and Manchester Victoria at 20:12.
