With spring bringing lengthening days, Greater Anglia is reminding customers that it has a range of great value tickets that make it ideal for visiting Norfolk’s attractions and events.
Discounted tickets include Advance and Ranger tickets and the Family & Friends Railcard.
Travelling by train also means that customers can save a small fortune on parking and avoid the traffic often queueing to get into the county’s tourist hot spots.
Among the events happening in Norfolk this month that are conveniently reached by train is Hoveton Hall to see the magnificent display of daffodils. A free visit to the Hall’s estate gardens is ideal for a Mother’s Day outing.
Hoveton & Wroxham station is situated on the scenic Bittern Line railway between Norwich and Cromer / Sheringham.
A Bittern Line Ranger ticket costs just £12 per adult and half price for children, and afternoon teas are available in the garden’s café.
Later this month, Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach opens for its summer season. A family fun day out can be had for less by taking the train to Great Yarmouth with a Family & Friends Railcard or a discounted Wherry Lines Ranger ticket.
Further savings can be had by booking Pleasure Beach wristbands in advance, as well as using rail tickets to gain 2FOR1 entry to the Sea Life Centre, Great Yarmouth, by booking in advance.
Instead of visiting the seaside, there is the chance to explore Norwich with the ‘Stranger in Norwich’ interactive game.
This allows visitors to play the part of a 16th-century stranger who has just arrived in the city to see its most important landmarks. Along the way, there are puzzles and riddles to solve, and the game can be played anytime at questoapp.com.
Greater Anglia’s Advance fares offer savings of between 60 and 70% on the standard walk-up prices, as well as 2-for-1 entry to many top attractions in London and East Anglia.
Other great value fares are available all year round, including GroupSave for people travelling in groups of three or more, a special London evening out fare for anyone wishing to stay overnight in the capital, and a Club 50 discount for customers aged 50 and over.
Greater Anglia’s Commercial and Customer Services Director, Martin Moran, said: “Travelling by train is cheaper than you think, and with our price promise and cheapest fare finder, you are guaranteed to get the lowest price when you book through our website.
“Our region has so much to offer and whether it’s a trip to the city or coast, shopping or sightseeing, we are giving people more money to spend on having a great time by helping them save money on their train fare.”

Whilst it is good that an Operator is promoting Advanced Purchase tickets and rovers and ranger for the Anglia region, it gives an impression that the are being incredibly good and “virtuous” in pointing out what was available anyway. Why do they ( and indeed all the “railway”) do more to promote these existing tickets?
