The Chinnor & Railway has announced that it will be running Great Western Railway steam locomotive Prairie tank No. 4555 for the 2024 season.

The locomotive is on hire from the Dartmouth Steam Railway for the main summer season and will be pulling its first train on Mothering Sunday, 10th March, when Mums can travel all day with a Day Rover Adult ticket for just £8.

The railway’s regular range of discounts and concessions will also be available, including Kids-for-a-Quid, when accompanied children can travel for just £1.

To make Mum’s day even more special, combined travel and Mini Cream Teas in a box can be secured by making reservations in the Train Restaurant.

Volunteer stewards will be on hand to welcome visitors onboard, and will serve their Mini Cream Tea in a box that includes a scone and finger of shortbread, strawberry jam, and Rodda’s Cornish Clotted Cream. The stewards will also serve a choice of tea, coffee, or soft drink.

During their journey, visitors can sit back, relax, and enjoy their tea while watching the steam from the steam locomotive or listen to a growl from a vintage diesel locomotive. On the way lovely views gradually open out to reveal the Vale of Aylesbury and Whiteleaf Cross in the distance.
