Steam locomotive Wissington has returned to the North Norfolk Railway after a two-year stay at the ‘Middy’ in the neighbouring county of Suffolk.

Wissington is an eighty-year-old Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 saddle tank engine, and has carried out passenger duties during its time on loan at the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway.

The loco has taken part in several events, including providing an alternative to the Coronation in early May last year, and ‘Middy in the ’40s’ over the late May bank holiday.

It also featured as the duty locomotive for the Middy’s Santa Specials.

The North Norfolk Railway (NNR) is also known as the ‘Poppy Line’. It runs heritage steam and diesel trains on a five-and-a-quarter-mile (8.4-km) between the towns of Sheringham and Holt, with an interim station at Weybourne. Holt also has a museum, which displays artifacts from the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway.
