Just before Christmas, rock legends Liam Gallagher and John Squire were in a railway tunnel on the East Lancashire Railway while recording a track for their new Single.
Liam Gallagher, the former Oasis frontman, and Stone Roses guitarist John Squire teamed up on December 13 in a railway tunnel in Bury, Greater Manchester, to shoot the video for their debut single Just Another Rainbow.
Jack Hartley and Lewis Nicholson from local production company Antfarm Film Services produced the video, which starts with Gallagher strolling down the tunnel wearing a poncho. He then leads Squire with support from a backing band through a live performance in front of a Class 144 Pacer diesel multiple unit.
The silhouette of the two-carriage Pacer behind the singers creates a colourful, dream-like atmosphere. Liam and John’s new track was released two weeks ago, on Friday, 5 January.
Before coming to the East Lancashire Railway the Pacer was used on commuter services in the north of England, and has also featured in other productions, including a BBC One drama, Sherwood on Netflix, and Compulsion on Channel 5.
The Pacer is also due to star at the East Lancashire Railway’s Diesel Multiple Unit Gala next November. Tickets for the gale can be obtained from the East Lancashire Railway website.
Mike Kelly, from East Lancashire Railway, said: “As local lads, Ian and John know their support to the heritage railway will make an incredible impact and is greatly appreciated by all the volunteers and staff at East Lancashire Railway.
“The atmospheric location of the tunnel with the 2-carriage Class 144 Pacer was a perfect fit for the coming together of two icons.”

Nice music, you can tell that the Gallagher brothers are influenced by the Beatles, I once met Liam Gallagher in a local pub, he was playing pool with my son and I met John Squire along with Ian Brown and the rest of the Stones Rose’s on a ferry to Belfast, from memory we ended up drinking Budweiser and eating cheese and mushroom pizza.
