TransPennine Express will see industrial action taken by drivers who are members of the union on Saturday the 30th of September and Wednesday the 4th of October.

The rail operator will not be able to operate any services on both strike days and is advising those travelling to plan their journeys ahead.

The days following the will see offer an extremely limited timetable with advice once given to customers to plan their travel ahead of making a journey.

Friday the 29th of September and also from Monday the 2nd to Friday the 6th of October inclusive, will see ASLEF take action short of a strike which will bring further to TransPennine Express services, creating short notice disruptions and alterations to services, with advice once again given to customers to check travel plans ahead of leaving for a journey.

Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Service and Operations Director at TPE, said:

“Unfortunately, the further strike action will once again cause severe disruption to our services, as well as those across the country.”

“Sadly, we won’t be able to run any trains at all on the strike dates, with a very limited timetable in place on the days following each strike.”

“We expect the action short of a strike to cause widespread disruption, delays and short-notice cancellations. I would advise customers to check very carefully before they travel and to allow extra time for any journeys.”

“We’re extremely sorry for the impact this action will have for our customers and will do all we can to keep as many people on the move as possible.”

  1. My son needs to get back to York on Sunday evening, 8th October, which is not a strike day.. Putting on what equates to a 50-mile bus service from Stalybridge to Dewsbury is a complete joke. If just one of those transfers goes wrong, he doesn’t know what to do. As it stands, what is supposed to be a one-hour journey will now take almost 3 hours, with no discount offered for such a pitiful drop in standards. Our only realistic option, to ensure he actually reaches York, is to drive him 50 miles to Dewsbury for his 3rd train transfer. This type of ‘planes, trains and automobiles’ scenario NEVER happened years ago.. What the hell is going on??!!

  2. Any excuse to cancel services. I was under the impression that terminating TPE’s contract and bringing it under government control was supposed to make it a better service, but there’s absolutely no difference, train’s are still being cancelled, sometimes without prior notice. What was the point? Yet again, I won’t be able to get to work and my wage will be short at the end of the month. Thanks
